Fadhlul Adnin Abd Karim

Fadhlul Adnin is presently the Senior Associate with MAHA Lawyers. She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Hons.) and a Bachelor of Islamic Laws (LLB. Shari’ah) (Hons.), both from the International Islamic University, Malaysia (IIUM).

Biography

She was awarded the Best Student for Bachelor of Laws (Shari’ah) in the 24th IIUM Convocation Ceremony held from 23 rd – 25 th August 2008 and in recognition of her excellent academic performance, has been placed on the Rector’s List. She was one of the PETRONAS Scholarship’s recipients for her studies. She is also a holder of Diploma in Shari’ah & Legal Practice (DSLP) from the same university.

In 2009, Adnin completed her pupilage in chambers at Messrs. Zaid Ibrahim & Co. the largest law firm in Malaysia, and was called to the Malaysian Bar. In 2010, she joined the firm as an Associate and was promoted to a Senior Associate cum Project Manager with ZICO Shariah Advisory Services Sdn Bhd in 2013.

Being a Project Manager, she involved with the EPF’s Shariah-compliant retirement scheme projects in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Adnin’s major contribution with the firm was in the field of Islamic Banking &; Finance, Islamic Capital Market, Islamic Wealth Management and Muslim matrimonial matters. She was also a qualified Syar’ie Counsel of Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory from 2014 to 2016..

In 2014, she was appointed as the Resident Manager of ZICO’s newly set up independent licensed trust company in Singapore, Allshores Trust (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. She assisted Allshores Trust and ZICO KL-Singapore branch in trust business and trustee related work.

She was dealing with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), monitoring the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML & CFT) laws and regulations, and handling end-to-end U.S FATCA compliance work. She also advises the parent company, ZICO Holdings Berhad in the overall running of the business and its external clients.

In 2018, Adnin back to Malaysia and joined HSBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad as the Legal Counsel for its Commercial Banking Business and her primary duty is to provide legal advice, guidance and support to HSBC Global Business (Commercial Banking, Global Liquidity & Cash Management and Global Trade & Receivables Finance) on various matters relating to banking and financial services. She is also a member of Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB).

In 2019 she joined Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Berhad as the Legal Manager, managing its legal department and legal works. In 2021, Adnin was appointed as an Independent Contractor in providing Legal, Shariah and Project advisory services to IIUM Holdings Sdn Bhd for its Solar Project and Energy Efficiency and Savings Program.

In 2023, Adnin contributed her time and energy with one of the Malaysian NGO’s as its Advocacy, Law Services & Research Manager in upholding the rights of Muslim woman and other human rights issues.
